Almost two months after the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections, the EVMs of all five Assembly segments of Karnal district have still not been removed from 17 rooms of SD Model Senior Secondary School here, forcing the institution’s administration to postpone the classes of the eleventh and twelfth standard.
The library of the school too was altered to serve as a counting centre. The makeshift dividers and grills that were put up for the counting still have to be removed, inconveniencing students and staff members, who are unable to use the library.

Parents have approached the school authorities, asking them to conduct the classes as exams are round the corner. “The EVMs have been here since May 12, the day of voting for the Lok Sabha poll. Since that day, no class has been conducted for the XI and XII standard,” said a parent on condition of anonymity.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
